Sitting meditation

We hope you enjoyed a restful and joyful summer! Our practice group will begin meeting again at Yoga Within on September 9th. This season we will be meeting twice a month. The dates have been adjusted to accommodate the long weekends. You may want to note the dates and mark your calendars.
Our practice time starts at 5:00 pm. Our bell masters lead a guided sit with time for dharma discussion as well as walking meditation or deep rest. New people are always welcome, our way of practicing is gentle and friendly.

Upcoming Retreat Opportunity Hosted by Happy Hearts

Living in Joy – An Inner Wellspring with Jeanne Corrigal, November 2nd-4th, 2018  – Crestwood Community League, Edmonton, AB

This silent retreat will explore these mutually supportive states, and the importance of joy on the path of liberation.  Dharma talks, small group practise talks, instruction in sitting and walking, and gentle reflection practices will be offered.

***Note the May 20th sit is cancelled due to the long weekend***

Walking meditation
Along with the return of spring comes the return of opportunity to practice walking together.  Our first gathering will be at the cenotaph in front of City Hall at Churchill Square, on Saturday May 26th @ 10:00 am. The practice will be about 30 minutes with time for tea and conversation after.

Happy hearts is joyful to host Bonnie during our regular gathering time and place on June 3, 2018 to host a sit, a reading from her new book, and share tea and conversation afterwards.  All are welcome to attend and books will be available for purchase on site.  A wonderful way to support the sharing of our practice as well as support an Alberta-based author.

Walk with Me – Edmonton Premiere

Happy Hearts Mindfulness Community is glad to be co-hosting the premiere of this heart-warming documentary film about the life and story of Thich Nhat Hahn. A short introduction by a member of our group will precede the screening of the movie.

All are welcome to join for some inspiration over the Easter break. There will also be screenings on Friday, March 30th @ 4:30pm as well as Sunday, April 1st @ 4:30pm

5 Day Residential Meditation Retreat with Anne Mahoney
Theme: Dukkha: Our Greatest Teacher

Retreat Dates: February 9th to 13th, 2018

Dukkha (unsatisfactoriness, stress and suffering) is a pivotal component of the Four Noble Truths and a frequently misunderstood concept in the Buddhist teachings. This retreat will give participants the opportunity to explore various aspects of their own dukkha; discover how to change their relationship with their dukkha and learn why the Buddha referred to dukkha as our greatest teacher.
